'Share The Advantage' wins Public Service Award

Southwestern Advantage was honored for Public Service last night by the Public Relations Society of America – Nashville Chapter. The Parthenon Award was won for the Share the Advantage Program in 2015. For three out of four years, Southwestern Advantage has won this category for efforts to help young people who are at risk all over the world (2012. 2014, 2015).

The Southwestern Advantage Student Reps have really embraced the concept of being service-minded. From helping orphans, revitalizing schools and daycares, working with special needs organizations, donating our books and website subscriptions, raising over $62,000 to build a gifted home in Mexico, raising $7,000 for an injured dealer, and so much more, these young people do it all. We are very proud to work with some of the finest college and university students from the US, Canada, and all across Europe.

Several generations ago, during one of the most turbulent of the desert wars in the Middle East, a spy was captured and sentenced to death by a General of the Persian Army. The General, a man of intelligence and compassion, had adopted a strange and unusual custom in such areas. He permitted the condemned person to make a choice. The prisoner could either face the firing squad or pass through the Black Door.  As the moment of execution drew near, the General ordered the spy be brought before him for a short, final interview, the primary purpose of which was to receive the answer of the doomed man to the query: "What shall it be - the firing squad or the Black Door?" This is the most comprehensive presentation of elementary, middle, and secondary level mathematics that I’ve ever seen. Students can potentially find math examples by searching on the Internet, but there aren’t any websites that are this organized and easy to navigate. There certainly isn’t one single website that provides as much content as what is available in these books. Special Features This is where I am most impressed with this product. Southwestern Advantage has managed to bring a “hypertext” feel to the static pages of a hardcover book. Students today are turned off by linear presentations of content, and they have shorter attention spans. The problem is they still have to learn a lot of math concepts!
