Southwestern Advantage Blog

Every summer, Southwestern Advantage holds a service week where our student reps are given the opportunity to voluntarily donate a portion of their personal sales toward our November service project. This past summer, our student reps raised nearly $40,000. 100% of the fundraising went toward helping two schools in a poverty-stricken region in the Dominican Republic called Friusa. During their November incentive trip to the DR, the student reps had the opportunity to do a site visit of the two locations that benefited from their summer contributions. Southwestern Advantage was honored for Public Service last night by the Public Relations Society of America – Nashville Chapter. The Parthenon Award was won for the Share the Advantage Program in 2015. For three out of four years, Southwestern Advantage has won this category for efforts to help young people who are at risk all over the world (2012. 2014, 2015). The Southwestern Advantage Student Reps have really embraced the concept of being service-minded. From helping orphans, revitalizing schools and daycares, working with special needs organizations, donating our books and website subscriptions, raising over $62,000 to build a gifted home in Mexico, raising $7,000 for an injured dealer, and so much more, these young people do it all. We are very proud to work with some of the finest college and university students from the US, Canada, and all across Europe.

We believe in service and giving back. Our 'Share The Advantage' program visited Franklin Heights Family Learning & Resrouce Center in Murfreesboro, TN - an organization that helps fill the additional educational and miscellaneous needs of young people. Nashville-area student dealers and Lexi of  SkWids.com  spent the afternoon teaching the children and supervisors how to use Southwestern's donated books and subscription websites. We believe in giving back.  In November 2012, 333 Southwestern Advantage student reps participated in our ' Share The Advantage ' service projects in Mexico over their Thanksgiving break. These young people took time out of their annual incentive trip to selflessly give back to local non-profits that help children who are living in challenging situations. In the three locations - Playa Del Carmen, Cancun, and Cabo San Lucas - student reps personally donated a total of $21,909.86 in school supplies, toys, and cash.  This video gives a look at what took place in Playa del Carmen  at Jardin de Ninos de Pedegral Daycare .
