Southwestern Launches LEAD Program

It takes more than classroom knowledge alone to achieve our goals in life. 


For over 150 years, Southwestern has trained college students on the principles of leadership and community impact. These principles are now being shared with young people through a new program called LE∆D.

LE∆D is a program designed to help young people gain the skills and character they need to achieve their goals in life. The program spotlights Life skills, Education, Accountability, and Difference-making in the community — preparing students for success both before and after graduation.

Your membership includes up to 6 user profiles. Enjoy an engaging video library on success principles, take leadership courses, utilize educational resources, book meetings with program mentors, and explore member opportunities.

MENTOR MEETINGS

Enjoy monthly conversations with our LE∆D Mentors. LEΔD Mentors are the not-so-secret ingredient that makes our program exceptional. They are the ones who keep members engaged, build and maintain relationships, and help the LEΔD program to be both an educational and an enjoyable experience.


ACADEMIC RESOURCES 

Available via southwesternlead.com is full access to our academic service Southwestern Global Academy. This service offers over 4,000 step-by-step tutorial videos on all required subjects. Also included is access to Advantage Topic Source – a valuable report and research-writing resource for the most commonly-assigned nonfiction report topics covered in expert detail. 


SERVICE

In the ‘Difference’ part of our program, members have the ability to nominate deserving families in the community for free access to our online educational resources. We provide the tools; you provide the action.


OPPORTUNITIES

By demonstrating action and understanding around the principles spotlighted in LE∆D, members can receive a letter of recommendation that can be used when applying for colleges, scholarships, and jobs. This letter is written by Dr. Ralph Brigham, the former president of the National Association of Colleges & Employers, and also serves as a certificate in leadership training. LE∆D members are also guaranteed an interview with Southwestern’s Sales & Leadership Program for university students and recent graduates.

Several generations ago, during one of the most turbulent of the desert wars in the Middle East, a spy was captured and sentenced to death by a General of the Persian Army. The General, a man of intelligence and compassion, had adopted a strange and unusual custom in such areas. He permitted the condemned person to make a choice. The prisoner could either face the firing squad or pass through the Black Door.  As the moment of execution drew near, the General ordered the spy be brought before him for a short, final interview, the primary purpose of which was to receive the answer of the doomed man to the query: "What shall it be - the firing squad or the Black Door?" Thaddeus Wert,  M.Ed., Vanderbilt Review of Southwestern Advantage: Math Content As I went through all of this material, I tried to think of topics that were left out, and I honestly couldn’t think of any. This is the most comprehensive presentation of elementary, middle, and secondary level mathematics that I’ve ever seen. Students can potentially find math examples by searching on the Internet, but there aren’t any websites that are this organized and easy to navigate. There certainly isn’t one single website that provides as much content as what is available in these books. Special Features This is where I am most impressed with this product. Southwestern Advantage has managed to bring a “hypertext” feel to the static pages of a hardcover book. Students today are turned off by linear presentations of content, and they have shorter attention spans. The problem is they still have to learn a lot of math concepts!
